What cookies are
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser when you visit a website. They let the site remember things across pages and visits — like keeping you signed in or recording your preferences.
We also use similar technologies such as localStorage and sessionStorage, which behave like cookies for certain features. In this policy, "cookies" refers to all of these.
Categories we use
We use cookies in three categories. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Strictly necessary. These are required for the Service to function. Without them, you cannot sign in, claim a brief, or upload work. You cannot opt out of these without breaking the Service.
- Authentication session. A short-lived token (issued by our authentication layer, Better-Auth) that keeps you signed in between page loads
- CSRF protection. A token used to verify that requests originate from your own browser
- Session continuity. Holds your in-progress actions (e.g. partially filled application forms) so you don't lose them if you refresh
Functional. These remember your preferences and improve your experience. You may opt out, but the Service will feel less personalized.
- Theme preference. Light or dark mode in the admin console
- Saved briefs. The local list of briefs you've saved for later
- UI state. Last-used filters, sort orders, and column preferences in admin tables
Performance and error tracking. These help us identify and fix issues. They contain no advertising identifiers.
- Sentry session ID. Lets us trace a single error back to a single visit, so we can fix it
- Performance metrics. Anonymous metrics about page load time and rendering
Third-party services
We use a small number of third-party services to operate the platform. Most of them work on the server side and never set cookies on your browser. Those that do are listed above. The full list of subprocessors is in our Privacy Policy.
We do not sell your data to advertisers and we do not embed third-party tracking pixels on our pages.
How to control cookies
You have several ways to control cookies:
- The banner. First-time visitors see a consent banner where you can accept all categories or accept only strictly necessary cookies
- In-product settings. Logged-in users can change their cookie preferences from your account settings
- Your browser. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Look for "Cookies", "Site data", or "Privacy" in your browser's settings. Blocking necessary cookies will prevent the Service from working
- Private / Incognito mode. Cookies set during a private browsing session are deleted when the window closes
Changes
We may update this policy as our use of cookies evolves. Material changes will be announced in-product, and the "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the most recent revision.
